MARINA FILMS wants to be a port of call for Czech and foreign filmmakers, both debut and established, with a distinctive authorial signature and the potential for international co-productions. The company encourages filmmaking that depicts our reality and helps to create challenging auteur projects in which the possibilities of looking and listening often collide with the search for new, experimental and unconventional narrative forms. Marina Films s.r.o. was founded in 2017 by Nina Numankadić and Marek Hovorka.
Nina graduated from the Department of Production at FAMU and is the producer of Viera Čákanyová’s FREM (Berlinale 2020) and co-producer of White on White (Sheffield DocFest 2021) and Notes from the Eremocene (Berlinale 2023). She is the producer of the upcoming film Welfare by Adéla Komrzý. Nina has been the director of the VoD portal DAFilms for 20 years. Marek graduated from the Department of Documentary Filmmaking at FAMU and is the founder and director of the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival.
